Sunset in Kincaid

Earlier, Wilson and I spent the afternoon at the park

What a beautiful, sunny day

A little overexposure, but I'm still learning
Love these tender moments (Wilson is never sure when she's being nice or gnarly)

Lovely view of sleeping lady
It was nice and sunny but a little chilly and we were a smidge underdressed

Still in awe of our landscape

Can you spot the moose that Cody did?
And someone else is also enjoying the sunlight

No-Recipe Soup

This week's soup is a no recipe soup that Cody whipped up with leftovers: it was delicious (especially since he made beer bread from scratch to go alongside)

And because I just haven't taken many pictures of the pets lately

I was fortunate enough to get time off work tonight, so I spent some time getting to know the camera settings a little better

And I caught a tender moment

Then she was back to her usual expression: condescending

Iditarod!

Ceremonial Start in downtown Anchorage, showing off the VIP pass

Tim and I waving from clear back behind the mob

Down near the dogs and the start line

The dogs were all very excited and needed nearly 1:1 dog to handler ratios

Musher with his Idit-a-rider

Enjoying their spot by the dogs
Running of the Reindeer: lame

Only ten reindeer and thousands of runners

Then we had to wait while they walked back to the starting line, poor reindeer

So we sought out another form of reindeer

Snow sculpture contest, finished

My favorite: Moose Hunt

Headed out to the lake in Willow, AK

The view along the lake

Here we are heading out from the cabin we met with

The mountain was quite majestic

At the official start

Watching them unload the teams

And more, it looked like quite the process

The first musher!

My goofy Iditarod nerd

One finally came on our side

Proof that they are indeed friends

We moved farther up the trail

Neon booties!

View along the bank, we watched all of them off

The airport drop-off

They got annoyed at my picture taking
We had a great visit with Tim and Darci... filled with enough 'Alaskan' things but plenty of time spent just hanging out. Hope to see you again soon!
