Hidden Lake and Mid May

Finally within sight

Wilson and I near the still partially frozen lake

Twas hidden indeed

There was a mishap over lunch, so Wilson hung close by for awhile

The group... all Air Force but Mr. Freed

Few of the valley

Without TV, we spend a lot of evenings out in the yard

Wilson was befuddled over bocce ball

We enjoyed a coffee date last week during one of our days off

Then spent the afternoon out in the yard and putting in the garden! 5/12/14. Then had a delicious meal of grilled burgers and hosted a fire pit gathering... what fun!

Caillat was finally feeling better and enjoying some evening air out on the balcony

Homer Halibut Trip

The group of us and our dogs after the Pet Fun Run

Waiting to get fresh spring water off the Seward Highway

And the view, leaving Anchorage at 7pm

Mt Redoubt after sunset, shortly thereafter, we saw nine moose along the highway

After setting up our tent after 11pm... had to get our brats cooked

Sunrise view from our campsite on the Homer Spit

The eagle we heard that morning... they were everywhere. We stopped counting after 30+

We marked our hometowns

Cody's halibut going in the tank

Group of otters is a raft, ramp or bevy. We say rotter.

Reeling in! We cast clear to the bottom, about 200 ft

This was a halibut we gambled and threw back, shucks

Cody caught a big one! the captain figured it was a 100+lb skate, not a halibut. It eventually broke the line

Luckily, they had a hook to hold

our haul! about 19lbs, it turns out

Cody & Emlyn's Day of Fun

Cody and I enjoyed our 'weekend' day off work together. The weather was a delightful sunny and 60. Breakfast, bookstore, yard maintenance and then a bike ride to downtown Anchorage (to get coffee drinks, or course). Then we continued down along the coastal trail and back up to downtown. By then, it was more socially acceptable to partake in adult beverages, so of course, we had to try a new place, Brown Bag Sandwich Co. Next time, we'll be back to eat there. To make the day even more delightful, we returned our cable box for the summer. Yikes. We haven't lived without cable for a number of years now, but hey- why not enjoy our last Alaskan summer without the excuse of staying inside to watch the tube? The golf course is gearing up to open this weekend, so days off like this may be few and far between. Although, I did receive good news yesterday: I am no longer on the chopping block in the force reduction board. Here's so keeping my job!

Beautiful scenery along the arm

The start of our bike gang... we hope to pedal downtown once a month this summer.

It was lucky we started early, the clouds rolled in and it cooled off

And again
This is what I woke up to the other morning- had to stare at me from the window above the bed
