Starting out
You can see the start of the fog
A view back
The fateful fog
We need to learn where to look
The water was extremely clear
Checking it out
We didn't know where to go, so we chose right (which was wrong)
So we took the much harder route and prayed we were headed in the correct direction (the water had to be coming from somewhere, right)
Ah, climbing up
It was a balmy 65 degrees
What could that be... a lake!
The view from our picnic spot
Smile!
Heading toward the waterfalls, we found the trail!
Someone wasn't cooperating for the photo
And we made it to Upper Reed Lake
Sun was shining and the fog was lifting!
Afternoon siesta
Amazing view!
Capturing the sun we so rarely see this summer
Our hike back (9 miles roundtrip, but knows how much we added by taking our own route)
We looked back to see our progress
View from the waterfall back toward what we now know as Lower Reed Lake
Ah, so that's the trail we should have been on
Back to the boulder field (dogs weren't recommended on this hike, but Wilson did great over the boulders) We did it in just over 6 hours, including lunch and lounge time
Heading out of on the 49mi drive to Willow, AK on the road that was once the only route to the nime
Here at the actual Hatcher Pass
