Cody and I finally! had a day off together (Cody's first in over 3 weeks). We decided to pick a hike and head out. Well, that is, after he picked me up from work and I happened to mention I was hungry, so we made a detour to Flo's Pancake House, a breakfast joint we'd been meaning to try. (Definitely not in Judy's league, but now we know). Cody let me sleep for a few hours before begging me to wake up so we could go. I had printed out directions to a trail in Eagle River so as I read him the directions we continued on. Little did we know, the DNR had spliced two trails together, so we ended up at the Eagle River Nature Center, not South Fork Trail. Oh well... we picked a new hike and we on our way.
| My boys, eager to get started! |
| This bull decided we didn't need to continue on that trail anymore |
| Wonderful views! |
| Wilson had to stay on leash until we passed a group of school children... all VERY eager to pet him |
| Wilson had to be in every picture |
| Our dog that needs to be coaxed across a creek |
| And then we wouldn't get out of it |
| I think I felt it budge a little |
| Foregoing the climb. Wise decision. |
| Happy Dog |
| 1 day off together. 2 breakfast dishes. 3 hours of sleep. 4 hour hike. 5
moose. 6 miles. 7 bucks for mochas. 8 tired legs... and that's all I've
got. (As seen on Facebook) |
| More wonderful views |
| Again, he had to be coaxed and encouraged |
| Looks a little like a beaver (he's not the best swimmer yet, but he'll get there) |
| Made it to the river |
| And the rapids |
| I spotted a momma a two babies! |
| Cody, on the other hand, did not need much coaxing to get in the tree |
| And we ran back into the bull moose from earlier. This time he let us pass |
| Two miles toward home... Wilson passed out. (We're assuming this was his first true hike. First of many!) |
