Paddle & Peddle

Several times they carried in the stick together. they finally mastered turning with it together
Cody and I have been blessed with a wonderful weekend together (well, minus this afternoon as he had to head back into work). He got off work early Friday morning so we headed to the dog park and ended up running into one of his favorite goldens, Mady. We did find out that Mady and her owner are moving next month, which is very sad news for Wilson. They had a blast swimming and at one point there were four goldens at 'our spot'.

Wilson loved his new ball from Darci
Friday night we enjoyed a double date to the Bear Tooth Grill and Theater. Great food, great company and drinks during the movie! Saturday morning found us babysitting for one of my coworkers. I think Cody was even more excited about this. He was definitely a cutie.
Cody and Isaiah
They we headed up to Ekultna Lake, north of Eagle River. We met another couple from work there to try our hand at kayaking. Cody and I adventurously bought a coupon for this awhile back and have since been saying, 'we need to go' so we're very excited to have crossed this off our list. We will definitely be taking any future visitors back there: it's so amazingly beautiful!
Cody and his splash skirt, very stylish!
Launching Julia and Zach

I then realized I didn't have the SD card in my camera...

The first stretch was with the wind
Beautiful views! This lake supplies the Anchorage area's drinking water

So amazing! (The water was a vibrant blue-green from the glacier melt)

Lovin' this adventure
Victorious!
Cody thought his fingertips were swollen
So, Cody and I packed the bikes (on our new bike rack- finally!) as there is a lakeside trail the entire length of Ekultna Lake. We thoughtfully locked the bikes to the rack while we were kayaking, however, someone forgot to bring the bike lock key... So, we found the ranger station nearby and Cody asked if he had any sort of wire cutters, and the only thing the ranger could think of was a saw. So we sawed away at the 'indestructible' bike lock until Cody finally sawed through. The bike ride ended up being worth the destroyed bike lock. Total 15+ miles in about 2 1/2 hours. We did have to brake for a couple moose, but luckily they cleared the trail.
The water level was done over 50 feet, apparently from the water usage in winter and not enough melt has happened yet to replenish the lake

The trail was dirt and rock with spots of running water, some areas of the trail were only about 3 tire-widths wide

Apparently I wear my helmet crooked on most rides we take...

Crossing Bold Creek
Lastly, we enjoyed Mass at the nearby Holy Cross in an attempt to catch a priest that formerly serviced at St. E's before moving to Holy Cross and success! He gave quite the homily and even came down to shake Cody's hand during church. It was wonderful to be recognized. We indulged in breakfast at a greasy spoon hole-in-the-wall place on Old Seward. We crossed another one off our list! (Judy's still prevails as our favorite breakfast spot though).
